The Get Up Kids

It's been a busy time at The Dog this summer with lots of great bands playing on lots of brilliant nights! The next Dog spectacular thanks to Interkonnect is that The Get Up Kids will be playing LIVE on the outdoor stage, the day before they go and play at Leeds and Reading festival!

Cirque La Islands! Islands Lost At Sea Album Launch!

Islands Lost At Sea are releasing there album "Are Having A Lovely Time" and to celebrate they are hosting a circus themed album launch The Dog on Saturday 10th April. They will be playing with Maladies of Bellafontaine and Kamal Arafa and it will be free entry! You can buy "Are Having A Lovely Time" at the gig as well as local record shops.

ILAS are this weeks BBC introducing's Tip Of The Week, here's what they've said:

In their current incarnation, Islands Lost At Sea are Adam Farimer, Dan Lever and Andy Brooks from Bolton.

However, according to the wonderfully self-deprecating biog on their MySpace profile, the band formed as long ago as 1958 "as the British answer to the American rock n roll explosion", but over the years have "gained a reputation for being woefully inept at every new genre of music as it arose".

We beg to differ! In fact, we're so fond of their song Platypus Fink and its sun-drenched vibe that we've presented the Islands with this week's Tip of the Week rosette. Give yourselves a pat on the back, chaps. Here's Huw to introduce the track:

Islands Lost At Sea originally released the song as a single in August 2009 and later that year performed at BBC Manchester Introducing Live at the Ruby Lounge (you can listen to two songs from their set here).

This Saturday there is another fantastic Interkonnect night lined up at The Dog and Partridge featuring Munroe Effect, Goatspeed, Wot Gorilla? and Grand Automata! As always the gig will be free and you should come down to The Dog for 8:30 to drink some alchohol and get ready for a great night!

The Broken Door album launch!

What a brilliant night at The Dog and Partridge! Thanks to the Broken Door for organising the night as all the bands were brilliant and people were dancing throughout The Dog all night! The Broken Door sold out of there debut album "52" and are now running a second printing which will be on sale soon so get in touch with them to get yourself a copy because it's fantastic!

Next up at The Dog is an acoustic Saturday with The Seeds, Throwing Pandas, The Creatures & Kev and Rob which is this Saturday 6th March! It's free so get down there and have some fun!

Last night at The Dog and Partridge, Interkonnect put on Special Agent Set, GO heeled, Nephu Huzzband and Goonies Never Say Die. The Gig was absolutely brilliant with all the bands playing really good sets and a really good turnout. Recordings of the gig should be up soon for everyone to enjoy!

The next gig at The Dog is on Thursday night which features Foolish from Clermont-Ferrand France, Fair Dos from Blackburn and playing what could be there last gig in Bolton before they split up The Emos . As always the gig is free and is going to be pretty damn good!
