Writer of songs, unhinged maverick, the product. Dave Lomax releases his debut solo record on May 5th and plays his debut show with his band at Dogstock on the Friday. ‘Flat 1, Loveless House’ cuts a jagged path through Dave’s influences and he promises to take most of the set from this record. It’s an exciting and possibly unpredictable start to Dogstock 2014.
The youth descend! Formed in 2008 Acute have developed a quirky brand of Alt. Pop Rock that singles them out a one of the bright hopes for Dogstock future. It could have been so much different. “Acute began playing Red Hot Chili Peppers covers before breaking out into songwriting” – in more forward thinking culture this is an offence for which the only punishment would be death.
THE ARCADIA VERSES
Ashes make diamonds as Appease gives way to the Arcadia Verses. Their write ups are full of words like ‘finely crafted’, ‘aspirational lyricism’, ‘soaring’, ‘subtly’ and ‘and’. BILLYCLUB Transatlantic punk giants play Dogstock for a second time. Bow down in awe as these four men crush you under their speed punk assault. Fiery.
Closing the night is post-punk-noise-rock titans Total Victory. After a hugely successful 2013, TV stand on the cusp of releasing the vinyl of second album ‘National Service’ and play for us on one of their very few outings of 2014 at Dogstock. Incendiary and one of the stand outs of this years festival.
